Wire Chinchilla Cage For Your Pet

Chinchilla is an exotic pet commonly found in South America. They belong with the family of rodents. They have a thick fur that protects them in the wild however, when they are made to stay indoors, this could prove to be too hot for them. And thus it is always best to keep them in a shaded cool area in your home.

When choosing the best home for your chinchilla, it is best to get them a wire chinchilla cage. Because like any other rodent, they like to chew on wood, plastics and thus wire is the ideal material for them. However, the flooring should either be covered, or made from another material because it feels hard for your chinchilla’s feet.

Another good thing with wire chinchilla cages is that there are a lot of accessories that you could attach and remove on them. Most cups and feeders found in most pet shops have hooks or wire on them to make it convenient for you to place them on the cage, and remove it later for cleaning.

Make sure that your feeders are made of slightly heavy ceramics, so that they could not easily, tip them over and spill the food. Also they would not be able to chew on them.

For entertainment, you could also attach a rotating wheel of about 15″ in diameter so that they could run about and exercise. These keeps them from being obese. Besides if the cage is too small and chinchillas love to run, this is a good option for them. Some wire chinchilla cage also have three to four levels, balconies with ladder in order to provide a challenging running ground for them.

Just make sure to place your chinchilla cage in a quiet spot as human activities could often stress them out.
