There has been a shift in living trends and people are renting more apartments. Apartment owners are tired of the rules and regulations put upon them for install gas fittings and lines to the kitchen areas for gas hobs.  Electric hobs are safer to install and to use. Apartment owners are installing electrical outlets; many electric hobs come with a cable and just need to be plugged.

New electric hobs come in beautiful colors, different materials and interesting designs. These are a source of pride to the owners and create an easy-to-use and stylish kitchen. The different models come in built-in or portable styles, whatever the buyer wants. Many tenants are purchasing the cooking surface they want and taking it with them when they move.

Standard units are 60 cm wide and feature four separate cooking zones. These are convenient for large families or someone who like to cook.  here are smaller sizes with two cooking zones and larger sizes that have space between the zones for pots of food to rest.

Purchasers of electric hobs found these to be quick heating and energy efficient. The new knobs have greater temperature control, which provides constant heat and creates more uniform cooking and a larger range of cooking heat. Many come with a timer which is handy for reminding cooks when to remove a pot from the burner.  Most require 220 to 240 volts of electricity.  Electric ovens can be purchased with the hob or as a separate unit.   There is even a portable hob on wheels that can be moved from one area of the kitchen to another.

Electric hobs are safer and the portable units can be taken with renters when the tenants move to another location. These are safer for landlords to install as electricity does not leak or blow up.
