Tips on Eating Healthy to Lose Weight

Losing weight is usually associated with eating less, skipping meals, eating tasteless foods, starving oneself feeling chronically hungry. If you hear a suggestion on how to lose weight, you would probably just nod your head and agree that they will help you lose weight. But how would you react if the suggestion given to you to help you lose weight is to never skip meals or eat whatever you like? You would probably shake your head in disbelief and say that the person suggesting this is crazy. These suggestions may sound funny or to some even ironic, but they are not at all wrong nor crazy. In fact, eating healthy to lose weight is probably the best suggestion one can ever get.

Here are some tips on how to keep eating and lose weight at the same time:

Eat a variety of food – Find a list of foods to eat to lose weight. It is important for you to have all the nutrients that your body needs. If you just eat one or two kinds of food (like only high protein, no carb, or low calorie), your body may not have the important nutrients it needs to function well. You may lose weight by doing this but you may also get sick. What good will losing weight give you if you will just end up in bed because of some form of illness? Eat different kinds of food, but watch portion size. Eating small portions of many different kinds of food is good.

Watch your calorie intake – Nutrition books have lists of how much calories a certain portion of food contains. Eat only what is enough for you based on your age and height. You can also find the number of calories a certain kind of food has in its packaging or in the product label. Carefully check them out before eating them. If you have choices of brands, choose the one that will give you a lower amount of calories. To help you lose weight, remember to take in less calories and burn more.

Avoid skipping meals – This sounds great, right? So go on, have breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can even have in between meals. Just remember to watch portion size. It is better to eat small amounts frequently than miss meals. Skipping meals lower the body’s metabolic rate. This means that fewer calories are converted into energy and used up. Unused calories are deposited in your body and they make you fat. Aside from lowering your metabolism, skipping a meal will also make you feel starved. The usual response of the body is too eat more than what you should have in your next meal. You lose less and add more.

Losing weight should not be a sacrifice. It should not deprive you of the good things in life. Eating healthy to lose weight is a sure hit. You lose weight and you stay happy at the same time.
