One of the things that many people overlook when they’re purchasing a house or running an office is the need for reliable, clean, and good tasting water.  Quality water is such an obvious requirement for any location where people will live or work for extended periods of time that it’s a wonder that people usually don’t consider it until too late!  The purpose of this article is to educate you on some of the features you should be seeking when shopping for a water dispenser.

First on the list is the most important consideration:  Are you going to be hooking the water cooler up to your home or office plumbing lines, or are you going to be relying on a bottle-fed dispenser?  Both options have their relative merits, and what you choose depends heavily on your unique situation.  For instance, if the water supply around your home or office is of poor quality, you will either want to get a water filter system or a bottled water dispenser.  The filter might come in the form of a Berkey water filter, a whole house water filter, or even a simple reverse osmosis system depending on the quality of the water and your budget.

Of course, the other option is the bottled water dispenser.  Make sure to get something that is easy to clean.  Some units may even have a self-cleaning feature or at the very least a convenient access hatch.  In addition to cleaning concerns, you might want to get a unit that contains a mini fridge or some other form of food preparation/storage.  Remember, a water cooler is an amenity with uses beyond the simple dispensation of H2O!  If you run an office full of workers, then investing in a cooler with a few more bells and whistles could save you the major space footprint of a larger refrigeration unit.
