It is a fact of life nowadays that every home needs a computer. Even if nobody in the household works from home there are times in every day when you and your family need to get online to shop, socialize, or for the kids to do their school projects. The problem is that most homes don’t have an entire room to spare to accommodate a computer desk. However, virtually every home will have a spare corner somewhere and that is all that you need to fit a corner desk.

Having a desk in a bedroom is not ideal. Your bedroom should be a place to relax and unwind and it is difficult to do that if it is also a place where you work. Also try to avoid having a computer in a child’s bedroom as it makes it very difficult for you to supervise their activity. The exception to this is the guest bedroom which can very well double as a home office.

If your home has a separate dining room with a spare corner this is also a perfect place to locate your desk furniture. These desks come in a huge range of sizes so even if you do not have a great deal of room you should be able to find one to fit into your dining room. Just bear in mind that you will need to have easy access to a power point near to the desk to avoid having to run an extension lead across the room.

Try to purchase a desk that matches the rest of your furniture. Corner desks are available in solid wood, veneered finish or wood effect in various colors such as cherry, ash, pine or black. There are also some very inexpensive desks made of fiberboard and these often include the tower style of computer corner desk furniture which has a very small footprint and can be squeezed into the smallest space.

The basic corner computer desk is simply a table that fits into a corner, usually with a shelf beneath for the keyboard. You can then add as many components as you like, and have room for. One useful item that is often integrated is a filing cabinet; so that you can keep all your papers organized and not have them cluttering up your workspace. There is also the option of having shelves or cupboards above the corner office desk to turn the space into a complete workstation.
