Simple Guest Room Decorating Ideas

Many of us have homes with extra rooms. These rooms are sometimes used as an office or a study. Sometimes the rooms are left without any specific uses and become a place where you place all your unwanted items. Instead of losing a room, how about transforming that extra room into a guest room? With a guest room, you easily have a space for overnight guests or relatives. Below are some guest room decorating ideas.

First of all, the room should have these basic things; a bed, wardrobe and a side table. Other than that, it would be nice to have a dresser with a mirror. Or else, a simple mirror with a table will do fine. Get nice comfortable cotton sheets for the bed and matching colors for the drapes. Try to use one or two dominant colors with other accent colors and you will and up with a nice palette for the room.

For a rustic charming traditional look, think about white linen and sheets with dark wood furniture or an elegant leather armchair. This will definitely be a hit with your houseguests. Dress up the bed with some extra pillows or cushions in small floral patterns. The same pattern can be used for other trimmings like your lamp shade or a tablecloth. Add a comfortable rug so that the floors are well padded. A braided rug will do really well with a country theme. Braided rugs can be found in many sizes, so you have the option of using a large one, or several smaller ones.

When you have guests coming, place some fragrant sachets in between the sheets and in the wardrobe. This will give a nice fresh scent for your guests. You could even add a few fresh blooms to the room. A bunch of flowers in different colors placed in an old milk jug will look enchanting.

Having a comfortable room will show your guest that you are thoughtful. Your guest will definitely appreciate your hard work.
