The sport of Airsoft is all about being safe and playing safe. It’s always a great game when everyone walks out uninjured. This is why many manufactures of Airsoft guns has safety features on their guns but not that much Airsoft players tend to notice this while playing. In this article will briefly explain some of the safety features on one of the most used Airsoft hand guns in Airsoft, the Airsoft revolver. These three safety features are easily noticeable and mostly prevent you from hurting yourself.
The most obvious the orange tip on the revolver, this is a requirement for all Airsoft manufacture to include this orange tip to signalize that the revolver is a fake revolver and not a real gun. I’ve seen many people color these tips black to make it look more realistic. This may be fine if you are only bring your weapon out during game play but once you are exposing it to the public you can scare a lot of people and possible harm yourself if someone just so happens to believe it was a real gun.
Another safety feature on an Airsoft revolver is the cylinder latch that holds the cylinder in place and align to the revolver barrel. You always want to have the cylinder latch lock in position when ever you are done loading the cylinder with ammunition. If the latch is not in its locked position, the cylinder can pop out to the side while you are firing which can cause a jam on your revolver. Any jam that occur can damage you hand gun instantly and is not an easy fix.
Last but not least is the most crucial safety feature of any Airsoft gun and it’s the safety trigger. The safety trigger is pretty self explanatory which basically prevents you from shooting your gun when you are not excepting to fire it. The safety trigger must be on at all times when you are not playing a game of Airsoft. I can’t tell you how many times I seen a handgun accidentally goes off because the safety was on. My motto is “If you ain’t playing, the safety staying”. I have always use this motto to remind myself to always keep my safety on until I get on the field and actually start a game.
Those three safety features for the an Airsoft revolver is the most basic safety features and more then likely all airsoft weapon have these implemented. I can tell you from a fact my Airsoft sniper rifles has these safety features except the cylinder latch due to the fact it doesn’t have a cylinder to load bullets into. But it does have an orange tip and a safety trigger. Airsoft is a great game because it’s a SAFE game, so lets keep it that way!
