If you are from the south, then you probably have heard of the latest musical sensation named Radric Davis (see the Gucci Mane biography for more information about his name versus stage name). His music has swept the streets and he really has an inspiring story to tell. He grew up with nothing in a poor neighborhood and with a poor family. His mom worked two different jobs and he could barely make it from day to day. He lived in a very dangerous part of Georgia called “Zone 6.” If you are familiar with the area, then you know that Atlanta is divided into various zones and that the ones with the highest crime rate are three and six.
He managed to survive growing up in a neighborhood where there was a lot of crime and illegal activity happening on a daily basis. When you are from the streets, you get used to what is happening around you and are forced to adapt. Even though he did well in school, he became really interested in poetry at a young age and began writing when he was around 10 years old. Eventually, he started to listen to the music that people were making and became interested in rap music. It was groups from the south like the Underground Kings (consisting of Bun B and Pimp C) that really inspired him to pursue his dreams.
To date, it is clear that when listening to Gucci Mane music, he always has a meaningful message for the listeners. He talks about the many trials and tribulations that he has gone through in order to become successful. He has been in and out of jail on many occasions and has had a difficult time getting his life in order. Since he has become successful, he has gotten a lot of support and was even recognized as the top mixtape artist of 2009 by MTV (Music Television). This was quite an accomplishment from someone that came from literally having nothing. He had put out a lot of different tapes for his fans to listen to for free on the internet and even gained some new fans because of the fact that his material has improved so much.
