Eat Well And Exercise For Normal Glucose Levels

Good advice is often ignored and it’s not until time has passed that we realize, often unfortunately, just how good that advice was. This is especially true where diet and exercise are concerned. Eating right is something that has been impressed upon us from grade-school on, yet most of us assume it doesn’t apply us, it’s for other people. 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day is the guideline as a minimum, but most of us consider that to be an outstanding day and a maximum effort, not the bare minimum required to keep our bodies in top condition.

Regular exercise of some type, whether it is walking, bicycling, weight-lifting or whatever has also been touted as preventing chronic health problems such as diabetes, yet most of us only get virtual exercise from watching television or fighting virtual enemies in screen-based combat. None of those counts and when the only real exercise is getting up to go to the refrigerator and to the bathroom problems are going tom develop.

The first health problem that often develops in people who don’t look after their body is a high blood glucose condition. Normal glucose levels are important to regulating the rest of our body and when they are out of normal ranges and stay there for a long time, other health conditions are going to develop.

Diabetes is the primary disease that will develop and there is some argument as to whether a person is fat and then gets diabetes, or if a person is fat because they have diabetes. Either way not getting fat would seem to be the best answer and ward off the chance of getting diabetes. Some diabetes is caused by a faulty insulin making mechanism, but type II is normally caused by insulin resistance and can be reversed to a large extent by exercise and diet changes that bring weight loss. Both types are characterized by a higher than normal glucose level.

Follow grandma’s good advice, eat your fruits and vegetables, stop watching TV and get outside and play.
