As part of being human, we are guided by laws, policies, directives, traditions, practices and others. These are designed to remind us what is good or bad, or right from wrong.
Certain guidelines apply to business cards as it does to anything that we do in our everyday lives. Listed below are some of the things that you should do to business cards and some that you should not do as well.
Do the following to your business cards:
Make sure that the contents of your business cards are related to your business or profession that you represent. This way, the prospect won’t have second thoughts when thinking if you are the right fit for his or her requirements.
Design your business cards such that they stand out among the rest. Consider embossed business cards or other creative business cards as it may help you in growing your business. Ensure that the design of the business card is something that strikes any person’s attention.
Remember to bring enough business cards everyday. Reload if you must, but be sure to have at least five to ten cards in your wallet or bag all the time.
Take note that the perfect time for you to offer a business card is after a conversation or discussion. Punctuate each talk with a handshake, a thank you and an exchange of business cards
Do NOT do the following to your business cards:
Don’t just give a business card without any introduction or discussion with the person. The benefit of such card will only arise when an initial contact is created between you and your prospect.
Never offer a business card that’s not presentable. If it’s torn, bent or have unnecessary writings, consider not giving it at all.
Do not just leave stacks of business cards at a restaurant, a shop or other public places and just hoping that somebody would pick it up and call you. This is not how business cards work. If your purpose is random marketing by allowing any people to check your business through randomly distributed papers, flyers are better in such instances
