Many modern bow hunters are finding out the numerous benefits of carbon arrows. Although you cannot buy carbon arrows at any store or supermarket, they are becoming an increasingly popular addition in hunting and outdoors shops. When you look to buy carbon arrows you want to make sure you get the right style for your needs. There are three main types of these arrows on the market aluminum/carbon composite, cross weave, and pultruded arrows.
Pultruded shafts are made from carbon with multi directional fibers. These fibers do not have enough strength to hold internal components, so the nock and point will fit into the outserts of each arrow. These arrows have not seen many innovations or upgrades in recent years, and they have generally remained the same as they were over twenty years ago.
Cross weave shafts, or internal carbon component arrows, are made by cross weaving carbon fibers into alternate layers. In this way, fibers are able to counteract with forces from the inside, allowing traditional insert points to easily fit inside. These arrows are often upgraded and feature many modern developments. They are also the most popular type and are available from several different arrow manufacturing companies.
The last category of arrows is the aluminum/carbon combinations. These arrows are actually hybrids, since they are composed of two different elements. The Eastern A-C-C is the most prevalent and popular out of all these shafts. They are available in a variety of styles and colors, although they are not as used as the previous two choices. The rigidity of an aluminum arrow frame combined with carbon arrow strength makes this product one of the highest quality arrows on the market. However, they cost much more than aluminum or standard carbon varieties so they are often not used. Carbon-made arrows have a smaller diameter and require the fin to be position with the supports nearby. This makes it hard to achieve good arrow flight when the fletching does not have enough room.
