Instant Bone Structure
A strong bone structure gives a face a certain presence and definition. If you have prominent cheek bones and a confident jawline, it does not matter how close set your eyes, how bulbous your nose, or how lopsided your lips, you are still going to turn heads. Most of us do not have prominent cheekbones, so we rely on blush it to draw attention to our cheeks. Even a light tone of blusher can attractively accentuate the line of the cheekbone.
Women with sallow skin like to apply cheek color because it makes their skin look more vibrant. The appearance of prominent bone structure is created by the application of a hint of color on cheek bones, on the chin and at the temples.
Types of Cheek Color
Cheek color comes in several forms. The most common types are blush and rouge. Blush is a colored powder you apply with a special blush brush, and rouge is a cream that is applied with your fingers or a makeup sponge. Cream rouge is usually packaged in a small pot. Other forms of cheek color are translucent gel which is packaged in a tube, swivel-up cheek color sticks or liquid cheek color. Liquid cheek color looks like colored water when it is applied, yet it creates a budge-proof translucent stain on your skin.
Brush on blush powder is convenient to carry in a purse. It is also easy to use, and it gives you subtle, effective results. Mineral blush is the newest type of blush powder on the market today, and it is becoming very popular.
What type of cheek color should you use? The drier your skin, the creamier your makeup should be. Rouge and swivel-up cheek color sticks are great for dry complexions. Gel and liquid cheek color are terrific for normal skin. Brush-on blush, which can be used successfully on all types of skin, is a must for oily skin. Brush-on blush will help reduce shine on anyone’s complexion, but especially for those with oily skin.
Highlighting cream, also referred to as highlighter, is a nice extra touch, not necessary but nice to have. Highlighting cream is pale and slightly pearlescent. It catches the light, making a feature appear more prominent. The results of using highlighting cream are not at all obvious, but are very very attractive. Pat a minute amount under your brow bone, on the tops of your cheek bones and on your jawbone for best results.

Highlighting cream is available in shades of pink, peach, silver, pale yellow, gold or copper undertone. It is most often packaged in a small pot, but you can find it in swivel-up sticks, as powder, with a wand applicator or as a liquid.
