Knowing by Estee Lauder was launched in 1988 and was created with the idea of a woman with a strong self confidence in mind, a woman who needs to project a consistent image and to stand out from the average with a perfume with a great personality. Like other Estee Lauder perfumes, like Beyond Paradise, Knowing has a long list of ingredients. The core note is an intense floral, that evolves towards a classic chypre. The official notes are: roses, tuberous, mimosa, plum, pittosporum, jasmine, patchouli, lemon blossom, oak moss, vetiver, sandalwood and amber.

The opening is intense and classic (these two adjectives are appropriate to many Estee Lauder fragrances, like Beautiful perfume for example), and leaves a wide trail. There is dominant aldehydic note, close to a powdery lemon aroma, plus a line of spiced roses with jasmine. In the middle notes the aldehyde is still dominant, but the fragrance is fresher, thanks to a more intense jasmine and an extra note of lemon blossom. In the background there are warm notes of wood, vetiver and nutmeg. There also seems to be a note of sweet patchouli, of the natural type (as opposed to sweet). Towards the end of the middle notes, after about two hours, jasmine and lemon blossom are more intense then other notes, creating a quite fresh effect that reminds of Lou Lou de Cacharel. The final notes are again fresh, with jasmine, lemon blossom and amber. In the background, support is given by vetiver, wood and other powdery notes.

This perfume by Estee Lauder projects a self confident image since the first whiff. It is a very dynamic fragrance, has a good aromatic depth, and a wide range of notes, which change continuously, and there is never a single dominant note for more than thirty minutes. It is, needless to say, a very feminine fragrance, close to a style of classic perfumery, with dark fruity notes that break the linearity of florals. The result is a perfume that can be worn in closed spaces all-year round, and in open spaces in the spring; an elegant perfume that is somehow wasted for a daily use, or non-social purposes. For a night use, it’s at ease in formal and semi-informal occasions. On the romantic side it will seduce with its personality and intensity. After all it was launched more than twenty years ago, and it’s therefore closer to that era when feminine perfumes were designed with that purpose in mind. Perfume Reviews: Tokyo By Kenzo And Jungle Pour Homme By Kenzo

These two Kenzo perfumes are my favourite, here is a brief review. The first one, Tokyo by Kenzo is part of the fragrances that I wear regularly. The second one, Jungle pour Homme, is not my cup of tea, but it’s very popular nonetheless and I’m sure some of you will like it.

Tokyo by Kenzo

In spite of its name, this is not an oriental perfume. The name Tokyo is there to recall the image of a sophisticated and cosmopolitan fragrance to be worn by night. In the idea of the designer Kenzo Takada, this was achieved through a citrus and spicy fragrance that will keep you awake.

The opening notes of this Kenzo perfume are fresh and spicy, with notes of ginger and clove, well blended with citrus notes of lemon bitter orange, and grapefruit, that strengthen the depth and intensity of the aroma, between sour and red-hot.

In the middle notes the clove is still dominant with an extra note of pepper (pink pepper according to the official notes). In this phase are also other notes that are hard to isolate, but the list of ingredients gives a help: mate leaves, green tea, nutmeg and red berries. The base notes are still spicy, but the secondary line is with wood and cedar.

I love this perfume because it smells different. The spicy is fresh, and not at all intrusive, perfect for the summertime. For the winter it probably lacks of intensity but it’s not completely out of place. The ideal age range would be between 25 and 35 years.

Jungle pour Homme by Kenzo

Along with Kenzo for Men, this Jungle pour Homme by Kenzo is a very popular fragrance, with a wide base that wears it regularly.

The opening is sour without being citrus, with notes of lime and hints of smoked wood. The middle notes are spicy, around nutmeg, and the final notes have cedar, Guaiac wood and benjui oil which is often used in aromatherapy.

The mix is quite strong, with a general note between bitter and sour, which is very particular and probably won’t meet everybody’s taste. For this reason, it is better to avoid wearing it in a work environment, and in formal situations in general. The best use for this fragrance is personal, with a circle or well-known friends, in open spaces. It can be worn any time of the year.

Suitable for men between 20 and 40 years.

I love traveling and exploring new places in town and even to other countries. In summer last year, out in a blue my friends planned a vacation in Paris. We all set back and went off to Paris. I chose the one with low waist type and have a side panels attached to make it more girly.

I love being fashionable. I include yoga pants in my passion. It gives me a relaxing feeling even if my feet are tired and cramping due to long but enjoyable walk.
